Amgad Shehata, Senior Vice President of Global Public Affairs and Strategy at UPS, appeared last week at Directions, the Altana Summit.
Amgad spoke to other trade leaders about how businesses can survive and thrive amid tariffs and trade policy upheaval. He also shared how UPS uses Altana's Product Network to manage its extensive, global physical network.
"We have built an extensive global physical network across 200 countries over the last 100 years," Amgad said. "We now have further enabled it by layering on Altana's digital network to help our customers, and to further illuminate global supply chain opportunities and risks."
In addition to his role at UPS, Amgad is a Private Sector Member of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Commercial Customs Operations Advisory Committee, where he advises the Secretaries of the Department of the Treasury (Treasury) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on the commercial operations of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and related Treasury and DHS functions.
Amgad appeared at Directions, the Altana Summit, to speak to hundreds of public and private sector trade leaders about how U.S. businesses can survive and thrive amid trade policy upheaval.
"Tariffs and trade dislocation aren't the only cost that businesses are facing," Amgad told the audience. Compliance violations come with a cost, too. It's vital that your C-Suite understands that proactive investment in compliance will save money down the road."
