As our defense systems become increasingly reliant on complex global supply chains, ensuring their integrity has never been more critical. To address this challenge, Altana joined 35 of the world’s top defense tech organizations in Washington DC for Manifest Demo Day, showcasing new solutions to address critical challenges facing defense value chains today.
"America's supply chain won the great power competition of the 20th Century. Today, our supply chain fragility risks losing the great power competition of the 21st Century,” said Altana CEO Evan Smith on stage at the event. “Years of outsourcing and globalization have resulted in opaque networks that frequently intersect with adversary nations, creating significant security vulnerabilities that are difficult to identify and mitigate.”
Both the Department of Defense and the Defense Industrial Base face a common challenge: fragmented visibility across complex supply chains and inadequate tools for managing risk. “The answer to this problem for the last five or ten years has been supply chain risk management tools,” Smith said. “These tools are terrible. It’s shards of data and there’s no ground truth. We believe that the Defense Department and the defense industrial base both deserve better.”
To solve this, Altana created Product Passports, built on the world's largest repository of public and private supply chain data. Product Passports bridge the information gap between public and private sectors to facilitate smarter procurement and strengthen national security. This unified platform connects buyers and suppliers across defense value chains, creating a common operating picture where all stakeholders can collaborate effectively to build secure, resilient supply chains capable of winning the great power competition of the 21st Century.

Altana’s partnership with General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) shows how this works in practice, with GA-ASI using Altana to get a clear view of their upstream suppliers, helping them stay compliant with regulations while expanding globally to support U.S. allies.
"We selected Altana because we need a trusted partner to help us reveal and manage our upstream value chains, ensure secure and compliant sourcing, and expand our technology capabilities across the world,” said Charles McVicker, Vice President of Supply Chain at GA-ASI.
Beyond this partnership, Altana supports organizations including the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Enterprise and Space Force, assisting them in evaluating industrial base vulnerabilities and enhancing resilience.
